Title: The Call Post by: Katharine on August 18, 2009, 09:38AM Ok, so I've searched and I didn't find any topic on this already (I hope), but I have a question about the recording of this song. This song is only on "The Greatest Journey CD, which my sister and I don't have. I was wondering, who all sings in it? I know I can hear Orla and Lisa, but can anyone tell me who all sings? And, I was also wondering, was this song recorded specifically for that CD, because it's not on TGJ DVD. When I first saw it was on TGJ CD, I thought it was performed at Slane Castle and that they just didn't put it on that CD or DVD. But, I'm guessing it was recorded maybe last year before TGJ came out? Thank you!! :)
Title: Re: The Call Post by: Natalia on August 18, 2009, 09:59AM Well I can't find my Greatest Journey CD, but I'm pretty sure it's Chloe,Lisa,Lynn,Orla,Mairead, and Alex.
If I'm wrong, correct me. I think The Call was meant for TGJ, and was recorded for that album, other songs on TGJ were re-recorded as well like YRMU and BTS Title: Re: The Call Post by: Jeanine on August 18, 2009, 10:02AM All the girls sing in this one, including Alex. Right now it is only on the TGJ CD, however it will be on the Powerscourt DVD and (most likely) the companion CD for it. It may also be on the upcoming IOH DVD/CD that may be coming out, but I'm not sure. We'll have to see as we don't know all that might be included in the IOH one.
Title: Re: The Call Post by: Katharine on August 18, 2009, 11:42AM Ok, thank you very much!! I hope it is on the new CD, because I really love this song!! :)

Ok, so I was just rereading this and was wondering, are they coming out with two DVDs and CDs? Is the Powerscourt DVD/CD not related to the Isle of Hope tour they did? Title: Re: The Call Post by: Jeanine on August 18, 2009, 10:09PM No, the Powerscourt show is a whole different show, though they keep some of the songs from IOH. The name of the Powerscourt show is "Songs of the Heart".
Title: Re: The Call Post by: lovelycherylwinner on August 18, 2009, 11:00PM This is the only song that Alex is on. Lynn is on the Call, Pie Jesu. and this CD version of You Raise Me up. The other songs on the Cd have been done by the other ladies on Celtic Woman.

Songs from the Heart Title: Re: The Call Post by: Katharine on August 19, 2009, 02:27PM Ok, so they just filmed the Powerscourt DVD, correct? Are they even doing a DVD for the IOH tour? I'm sorry I keep asking about this, I'm just a little confused...story of my life! ;D
Title: Re: The Call Post by: Jeanine on August 20, 2009, 12:13AM We have heard that there may be an IOH DVD/CD coming out in September. Remember we do have footage by CW from some of the Live shows from the IOH tour, that is most likely what any DVD would be made up of. We just need official word. Several PBS stations are going to be airing CW starting this month with the Fall Tour and all, so check with your local stations and see when they're airing them and watch. You might learn something from that. ;)
Title: Re: The Call Post by: Katharine on September 01, 2009, 03:57PM I was just listening to this song, and I was wondering, does anyone else think of "Tarzan" when it first starts? I swear, every time I play it, I think it is one of Phil Collin's songs coming on, and then I realize that, no, it's an even better song. ;D

I've never seen the Narnia movie(s?) before. So, I've never heard the music either! Title: Re: The Call Post by: Celtic Lass on September 16, 2009, 08:51AM I'll see if I can find you a good sample of the Narnia music to compare. Stay tuned . . .

Title: Re: The Call Post by: Katharine on September 17, 2009, 01:20PM Hey! Thank you so much!
Ok, so the second link REALLY makes me think the Stardust soundtrack! (Yes, I LOVE soundtracks!) OH MY GOSH, the third sounds just like Stardust at the beginning!! Haha! Just a suggestion, if you haven't seen Stardust, you really should, such a good movie and awesome music of course! Ok, I am just going to condense this and say that all remind me of Stardust mostly. But, again, thanks for sharing these links! The music is pretty cool!! ;D Title: Re: The Call Post by: Celtic Lass on September 17, 2009, 01:23PM Stardust. Is that the one that has Ben Barnes in it? Cause he played Caspian.
Title: Re: The Call Post by: Katharine on September 17, 2009, 01:24PM Yes!! I didn't know that until just now...haha!! He plays "Young Dunstan." ;D
Title: Re: The Call Post by: Celtic Lass on September 17, 2009, 01:27PM Ok. Now I really want to see it! LOL
Title: Re: The Call Post by: Katharine on September 17, 2009, 01:28PM It is SOOOOOOOOOOO good!!!!!!!! Just saying...haha!!
Title: Re: The Call Post by: CelticWomanFan425 on October 06, 2009, 12:24PM Can someone please post the lyrics and which girl sings which part please? I know the lyrics to the song but I keep getting Lynn and Alex's parts mixed up. I can't tell their voices apart in this song for some reason.
Title: Re: The Call Post by: Starman on October 06, 2009, 05:54PM Thankfully, it's not long until the DVD is out! As to who sings which part, don't feel bad about confusing who sings when! I attended the IOH dress rehearsal at Evansville in February. The musicians and singers all got their parts perfectly, but the spotlights often hit on the wrong girl during their parts in songs! :D That didn't last long of course; nor will any of our confusion after we get the DVD and come to know it as well as we know the performance at Slane! :) ;D
Title: Re: The Call Post by: t_eric on October 06, 2009, 09:14PM Here are the lyrics and who I think sings them:
Chloe Orlagh Lisa Lynn Sometimes in this life we hear Calling from somewhere Sometimes it is loud and clear Sometimes it's so softly there Sometimes it is in the sea Sometimes in the sky Sometimes it's in you and me And sometimes it's a cry Open your heart I am calling you Right from the very start Your wounded heart was calling too Open your arms You will find the answer When you answer to the call Sometimes it is in desire Or in the love we fear When the call keeps calling us *I think this is Orlagh but it might be Alex? Doesn't sound like her though. Till the fear will disappear *Lynn and Orlagh (Alex?) When we have no dance to dance The call is in the song When we have no voice to sing Then the call is calling strong Open your heart I am calling you Right from the very start Your wounded heart was calling too Open your arms You will find the answer When you answer to the call (repeat) Unless the 'When the call keeps calling us' line is actually Alex, she has no solo lines in the TGJ version of the song. I think it is Orlagh, since Alex sounded way different when I heard her sing it on the IoH tour. Unfortunately the DVD won't help with my Alex/Orlagh confusion as Alex will sing all of Orlagh's lines anyway! :D Title: Re: The Call Post by: Trouble on October 06, 2009, 09:25PM Alex is in this song too. She sings "Or in the love we fear"
Title: Re: The Call Post by: CelticWomanFan425 on October 07, 2009, 10:10AM Alex is in this song too. She sings "Or in the love we fear" I knew that was her in that line of the song Title: Re: The Call Post by: The Impatient New Yorker on October 18, 2009, 09:56AM Alex is only featured in the call and the call was recored for the "TGJ" C.D. It's in the IOH tour and on the Powerscourt DVD and hopefully the C.D.
Title: Re: The Call Post by: Tiffany Gray on November 02, 2009, 04:16PM I love The Call!!! It is so beautiful!
When I first heard it, and remember that I was a new fan back in December last year and didn't know much about the group, I actually thought the very first soloist was Meav!!! Chloe's voice sounded so mature that I actually thought she was Meav lol. I hear that on the Powercourt DVD, there's gonna be a different arrangement of The Call. That's what I heard, but I don't know if it's true yet. It's less than a month away to the PBS airing, so I'll wait and see lol. I loved when Alex, Orla, and Lynn were singing in unison in the second verse! That was gorgeous! |
