Why do I suddenly feel like I'm invisible?  Cheesy

Flower of Scotland is a great song, Maggie, but it's not the official anthem of Scotland.  As I said in my previous post, they don't have one.

Go to Glasgow and try telling the Scots that!

I wouldn't give you much chance of survival......... Grin Grin Grin

In the hearts of Scots, and that's the only place where it matters, it has very much replaced Scotland the Brave.
However, the latter is useful for dancing the "Gay Gordons".

I think I'm going to have to wait until I'm at my folks to listen to these as youtube doesn't work hardly at all on my home computer.  It works well on theirs though.

I think I should explain why "Flower of Scotland" has become so popular with the people of Scotland.

The song is about the defeat of King Edward II at the Battle of Bannockburn.
Robert the Bruce led the Scots to victory, and won independence from England.

This is once more a popular cause in Scotland, and the goal of the Scottish Nationalist Party, which in the 2007 election became the largest single Party and got a record number of votes.

Ever since oil was discovered in the North Sea off Scotland, there has been a renewed cry for Independence, which was always simmering beneath the surface.

The Scottish Parliament was re-established in 1999.

So "Flower of Scotland" is probably going to be the officlal anthem before too long.
It reminds them that they won independence in 1314, and they can do it again!
