Hi, a few days ago I've been asked to organize a party about Saint Patrick's Day! Cheesy just thought you're the only people I know who would know some interesting details about this festival (my task is to make decorations).

What do yo think about it? Cheesy

You could go with the standard shamrock or maybe some Celtic Crosses. (Leave out teh Little people).

First of all take care to spell it correctly: Saint Patrick's Day.
It should never be called "Paddy's Day" or even worse "St Patty's Day"  Roll Eyes

Never use a four-leaf clover, which has nothing to do with Saint Patrick.
The Shamrock is the symbol of Saint Patrick and Ireland. It has three leaves, not four.
Saint Patrick used the shamrock, 3 leaves on one stem, to explain the Blessed Trinity.
The Harp is the National symbol of Ireland.

Here is a shamrock:           and a Harp:

If you want to use a Celtic Font for posters etc:

I didn't realize you live in Poland...(I just looked at your other posts on here).....can you get any Irish stuff there?
If you want to send me a private message with your address I will send you some stuff.
Where will your Saint Patrick's Party be....in a house, a school, a street party?
How many people will be there?

The party will be in a school with a huge hall.
There are about 150 invitations but the number of guests may change. We're going to make this party in April so there's still plenty of time but there's also a lot to do.
Well, although I haven't been looking for anything like this, I think that I can find some Irish stuff here Smiley

OK gang.....I am going to send Adelaide some items for the Saint Patrick's Party she has been asked to organize.

I have ordered some stuff, but there are 150 young people coming to her party.....I think it's at her school.
She does not live in the USA and it may be difficult to find St Patrick's stuff where she lives.

It is a delayed Saint Patrick's Party......in April.
So I thought maybe some of you might like to send stuff after your March 17th celebrations are done.
If you would like to help with this project, send me a pm I will let you have my address to send items to,
and I will send them on to Adelaide.
This is entirely my idea, not hers....she did not ask for anything except advice.

GUIDELINES:
PLEASE do not send anything heavy or bulky - I want to keep shipping costs down.
Also please keep it appropriate for school-age children.....no booze ads.
Suggestions are garlands, cardboard shamrocks NOT 4-leaf clovers!!!
Green plastic beads, balloons, paper table wear.....etc.
Your local Party Supply Store may be the best place, i might go along to mine after Saint Patrick's and get some half-price.
or the following sites may give you ideas...maybe you want to order for your own Party,
then send them to me when you're done with them:

I haven't forgotten you......I have ordered some items for the Party, and I have contacted some Corporate folks
who do business with Poland, to see if they can send you some stuff.

Now that I've checked your address with you, I'm all set.

Yes Adelaide, there is something you can do for me.

Get all the education you can....never stop learning.
(I'm old enough to be your granny, and I've never stopped learning!)
Honour God, your parents and your Country.
Make sure you keep a sense of fun and joy in your life.
Be a lady of ethics and integrity.

My Dad explained it to me this way:
ETHICS means knowing the right thing to do, and doing it.
INTEGRITY means doing the right thing, even if nobody's watching and will ever know.

I don't believe a young lady like you Maggie would ever be considered a Granny.

Grandmother maybe, but not a Granny.

Well, here I am being a proud Granny / Grandmother :

Am I off topic? No not really.....the young man in the picture is Thomas Patrick....
....he has Thomas and Patrick as his Patron Saints.....a dynamic duo!
And you can bet my grandson will be celebrating on 17th March! (No Guinness yet though)

Curiosity question:  poking around the Wikipedia page for St. Patrick's Day (yes, not the end all of information... hence why I'm asking), it states that the holiday's name in Irish is Lá ’le Pádraig or Lá Fhéile Pádraig.  If that's true, is that part of why some may call it "St. Paddy's Day", or was it just lazy speakers?   Wink
