The British Isles may become all I have left.

« on: February 04, 2010, 12:29PM »

In this first post to the forum, I hope to get an answer to a question that probably troubles other members as well.

That question is in regard to "At The Ceili," and it asks specifically who wrote its words and who composed its music. This distinction's import rests in the fact that oftimes the lyrics writer and the music composer, if they were two or more different people, are often listed together with no attempt being made to distinguish who wrote or composed what.

If need be, the moderators are welcome to move the question to the "Questions & Comments" board under "Everything Else."

In my Isle of Hope program, under At The Ceili it says: David Downes/Shay Healy. I think those two wrote the song.

But which of those two gentlemen wrote the words of the selection--and which composed the music?

I think they may have both written the lyrics but David Downes arranged the music (ANJ Deluxe CD)

Don't know if you have a program or not but in the back under creative team it lists Shay Healy next to Original lyrics. David is the Director and Composer and Shay wrote the lyrics.
Hope that helps. Smiley
