I was in the Celtic Note Store in 2007 looking to see if they had any Celtic Woman CDs/DVDs.
They had not heard of them.
I also went into music stores in Galway, Limerick, Nenagh and Thurles......same result.

I told the managers "I think you'll be hearing of them soon......when you do, stock up!"

I've already been wondering how known and popular CW is in Ireland.. I always have the idea they aren't really popular there  Huh

I think it was the filming at Powerscourt last year that increased awareness.....word went around.

In 2007 I didn't find any trace of their music and nobody had heard of them.
Tipperary people had heard of Máiréad, but not as part of Celtic Woman.

Previously CW had appeared twice in Dublin and once at Slane Castle to invited audiences.
Unless an artist or group are actively touring in Ireland, and appearing on the popular TV shows there,
nobody knows them.

The young people in Ireland know the American and British pop stars just because they see them on
their type of satellite music shows.

I was in the Celtic Note Store in 2007 looking to see if they had any Celtic Woman CDs/DVDs.
They had not heard of them.
Nice store, near Trinity College.
I also went into music stores in Galway, Limerick, Nenagh and Thurles......same result.

I told the managers "I think you'll be hearing of them soon......when you do, stock up!"
The Manager in the Galway store said "I'll write that name down and ask my suppliers do they know them". Cheesy

I was shocked the Nenagh and Thurles stores didn't even have their home-grown girl Máiréad's CD!
(Mind you, Nenagh isn't exactly the centre of the Universe!)

All Ireland should be proud of Orla!  I hope her popularity in the rest of the world will help sales of her albums in Ireland, for them to see what all the fuss is about, if nothing else.  Once giving her a listen,  I don't know how they could not adore her.    Undecided Smiley
