I'm avatar challenged.
Will we be able to select from site provided avatars soon, such as at the previous site?
Thanks,
Tom

Yes, enquiring minds (of the techno-deficient ) want to know. I've never been able to figure out the avatar/banner thing. Help, please?

The easiest way to do the avatar is to save an avatar you like, post it to your own private website, there are many on the net that you can link to. There's Fotki albums, Photobucket albums, Ripway site and many others. Personally I upload mine to my ripway site. Then you get the URL (address of where it's stored).
In your profile area, where it has the part saying, yes I have my own avatar. In the space beside it, paste the URL of your avatar and voila! It will show on the forum.
People post their banners to their signature area, I'm not sure if the same principle applies to the banner (posting the URL or not). I have my settings so I don't see them. (It's a personal choice, but I find banners on a thread to be distracting and I turn that feature off)
Hope this helps!

It's really fun when you get the hang of it. I've personally used about 15 avatars in the past 2 1/2 months! I finally found the right one though!

Dear Brian, What is your max dimention for avatars.
Dani used 100x100 and it seems too big here, do you use like 65x65?
I am gonna make avatars for members here and I just want to know.

Marie,
This forum automatically resizes them to 65 x 65, so any size is fine as long as it's square. Of course, if it's too big it will lose a lot of clarity and resolution when it's resized. And if it isn't square, it will be distorted.

The avatar I use myself is 100 x 100 in actual size. This forum automatically reduces it to a smaller size. So it doesn't seem to matter that your avatar is actually bigger. I'm going to try creating some and I'll be doing them at 100 x 100 so they can be used at different forums. And each forum will size it to their maximum allowable size.

http://www.celticwomanforum.com/index.php?topic=113.0Just a heads up that we will be launching the sister site to our forum, celticwomanfans.com soon! This will be a great place to share your avatars, banners etc... as well as to download free ones for your use. Stay tuned! Jenny
