Chloë Agnew will always be my VBIF forever~!

« on: April 11, 2007, 02:09PM »

You know, pals, I heard that there must be the version. Here's easy:

At The Céili

Ladies:
Tonight we're going to meet some lads
Us girls are dressed up gaily
And we'll be dancing 'til the dawn
We're going to the céili

The lads, they come from miles around
From Ennis and Kilmaley
To show us all their fancy steps
We're going to the céili

They're playing tunes on everything
From pipes to ukulele
It sounds so good, you can't sit down
We're dancing at the céili

Lisa:
All the boys we loved so well
So handsome, young and charming
They're in New York and Boston now
They should be home here farming
My own true love has sailed away to be an endless rover
Cause times are tough and he must leave to start a new life over

He writes me letters every week to say how much he's slaving
And he promises that he'll be back before the hay needs saving
But it's hard to love somebody that you're not in touch with daily
So I'm looking for somebody new tonight down at the céili

The winter nights are long and hard, and time goes by so slowly
I wish my true love he was here, and in his arms I'd roll
He'd whisper tender words of love to me and kiss my lips so sweetly
And quickly I'd surrender to his manly charms completely

Lisa and Méav or Hayley:
He writes me letters every week to say how much he's slaving
And he promises that he'll be back before the hay needs saving
But it's hard to love somebody that you're not in touch with daily
So I'm looking for somebody new tonight down at the céili
So I'm looking for somebody new tonight down at the céili

Órla:
I hope I meet someone tonight who'll make my heart beat fast
A handsome man with laughing eyes who smiles as he walks past
And when they play an old-time waltz, he'll twirl me round the floor
And promise me that I will be his girl forevermore

His girl forevermore,
His girl forevermore
Who'll promise me that I will be
His girl for evermore (repeat 2x)

Méav or Hayley:
I'm somewhat in a bother that is really quite alarming
I have two lads pursuing me and each of them is charming
One of them is dark and poor, one fair with lots of money
I don't know which one to choose, the flower or the honey

Full chorus:
What on earth am I to do? It's driving me half crazy
Tonight I'll make my mind up when I see them at the céili

Méav or Hayley:
To be a poor man's wife will be a life of washing dishes
While a rich man's wife will surely have great luxury and riches
In comfort how I know, it wouldn't be too hard to wallow
And being poor is not much fun...
Which one should I follow?

Full chorus:
What on earth am I to do? It's driving me half crazy
Tonight I'll make my mind up when I see them at the céili

Lisa:
I've been lucky I've found a lad who's handsome and a neighbor

Órla:
And me, I've met a decent man whose friendship I will savor

Méav or Hayley:
And me I've made my choice as well, and in no way was it easy
But I'd rather have a man for love than be a rich man's lady

All:
And that is how the story ends, may true love never fail me
We got ourselves three men tonight and we met them at the céili

Well, that settles it for awhile. I don't know the tour version of "The Dawn, The Sky, And The Sun" lyrics getting by. I need some help, please.

No Western_Rose. From what I remember, these particular lyrics are the same. Is this your question/concern?

The Sky and Dawn and Sun song is the same except for in the begining they add a line. I don't remember that it is though.

Also, At the Ceili song is diffrent. Just the way the music is played is all.
Mo Ghile Mear also is a tad diffrent.  But I liked it because I needed some variety.!

I also noticed that they added an extra line or two to the Sky, the Dawn.......I think that it was a good idea and wish they had recorded it as such. That song is one of my favorites in the New Journey CD. Did anyone ever find out what the extra lyrics are?

According to one source, the new verse is:
'Now, let the day begin,
Now, every dancer spin
Step in and step out again...'
I don't remember where I found it, sorry.

Good one! Now, we can add out those more ya-da-da-da's beneath them. What else besides them?

The tour version of The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun has always been different from the versions on ANJ. Over on her forum Lisa herself addressed the question here. She was also kind enough to supply us with the tour version of the lyrics which can be found here.

The missing second verse goes:

Now let the day begin
Now every dancer spin
Step in and step out again

ya da da da da da da

Let every bell to ring
Trumpet and violin
Let every chorus sing

ya da da da da da da .....

The RTE's Point recording that's listed under the Celtic Woman section of the forum has the tour version on it if you would like to hear it.

Yes a majority of the songs are a bit different on tour....

The Sky The Dawn The Sun has an extra verse and chorus, and the instrumental is musically arranged differently. This is the ORIGINAL considering it was written for the tour in 2005. It was shortened on the CD and DVD due to time resitrictions.

At The Ceili has more instrumental parts live, and also extra chorus parts. Orlagh also repeats the phrase "His girl forever more" one more time than is on the CD.

Dulaman is slightly different than the CD/DVD as there is an extra part where you would think there would be a chorus, but instead the choir is chanting and Hayley/Meav come back in again with the "da da da da da" part.

Orinoco Flow is also different live as opposed to the CD and both DVDs because the choir now has "Ah"s in several parts of the song, whereas they do not on the albums.

If I have missed anything let me know....this all just comes from experience from seeing Celtic Woman live from every tour they have done since the beginning!!!
