I an just about to leave for the monthly meeting of the Irish American Cultural Society of Central FL.

http://www.orlandoirish.com/index.html

Meetings are usually held the second Sunday of each month, but after this one,
we have a summer break until September.

However that doesn't mean there's nothing happening.

From 24th to 26th June we have a Beach Weekend in Daytona.
This is always great fun.....gather for supper on Friday night, sit around the beach-front patio and chat, drink a few beers.
They allow us to bring our coolers full of Smithwick's, Guinness, Harp Lager etc.
We each have beachfront balcony rooms with refrigerator, and there will be a few Irish Flags flying from those rooms!
We have a "Party Room" and usually we bring snacks and music and just hang out.
Sometimes we have our own musicians.
Saturday night is PARTY TIME!
We go out to dinner, or sometimes we bring "pot luck" contributions to eat, soda bread, pizzas, etc.
Then we gather on the patio, put on the music and dance.
Sunday morning, some of us go to early Mass, then back for breakfast.
Everyone departs at their own pace. Dave and I will be there Saturday morning until Sunday noon,
as we don't want to leave O'Malley too long.....he will stay with his Vet.
Rooms are a special rate of $59 per night at La Playa Resort, IACS members and guests only.
So if you happen to be in Daytona at that time let me know in advance.

October 22nd through 27th there is a 5-night Cruise to the Cayman Islands and Cozumel.
Prices are not bad - $329 for an inside cabin, $349 outside cabin.
Dave and I are not going, we may be elsewhere.

November we have the "Picnic in the Park" a great family event, fun and food for everyone
in a beautiful, rustic, old Florida spot in Sylvan Lake Park.
There is a BBQ grill and we have our retired NY firemen who are terrific cooks!!!
Burgers, hot dogs, chicken and all extras are supplied.
We have a large shaded pavillion with enough tables and seats.
The ladies of IACS supply delicious desserts.

If you are going to be in town let me know on this forum or by email.
