I love BIG  music and that means " Hans Zimmer". King Arthur, The Rock, Gladiator, Batman Begins, and countless others. Gives me chills to listen.    Also Moya Brennan sings the " Tell Me Now" from the King Arthur cd.   It's outstanding.

I love Tell Me Now! So real, you can almost see what happens just by listening to the music.

I've discovered a wonderful young flautist named Katie Morgan.  Not surprisingly, she's Celtic!  (From Carmarthenshire, one of thirteen historic counties in West Wales.)

Eileen Ivers (fiddle) and Immigrant Soul will be performing a concert in the Finger Lakes region of New York in Feb. 28th.

Website:  http://www.eileenivers.com/

$35 ticket gets preferred  seating, event poster, catered reception with Ivers before the show.

Don't know if I'll be going or not....  just thought I'd let others in NY know about the concert.

Warning: This may be a long post.

The European music scene has a unique blend of rock or folk with classical voices, chorus', and a very different ( and sometimes darker) view of life. It's called Goth Rock, and I've been listening for several years. The music may be dark, but it is beautiful, sometimes haunting, and very rarely depressing.

I would like to introduce some of the groups, and give some links.

Rammstein is named after a US Air Force Base in Germany
Rammstein Sonne complete - Snow White is the Sun?

This group you may have heard.
Bring me to life by Evanescence  - look at the lyrics

I'm particularly taken with a group called Nightwish, who did their own (Dark) Passion Play. Here are several links

Nightwish - Last of the Wilds - Beautiful Instrumental

Nightwish The Islander - CW should do this one

Meadows of heaven - Nightwish - a CW song in the future?

Nightwish - Amaranth - An Angel falls to the Earth

Nightwish - Over the hills and far away - Modern Folk Song?

Nightwish End of All Hope - Rock Anthem w/Chorus (think Mozart gone mad)

Nightwish - Wishmaster (Pearl Habor) - Action from the movie

Nightwish - While Your Lips Are Still Red - For Lovers of all ages

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3W9nAACkKas

Lyrics
Sweet little words made for silence
Not talk
Young heart for love
Not heartache
Dark hair for catching the wind
Not to veil the sight of a cold world

Kiss, while your lips are still red
While he's still silent
Rest, while bosom is still untouched, unveiled
Hold another hand
While the hand's still without a tool
Drown into eyes, while they're still blind
Love, while the night still hides
The withering dawn

First day of love never comes back
A passionate hour's never a wasted one
The violin, the poet's hand,
Every thawing heart plays your theme with care

Hope you found some that touched you.

To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a Heaven in a wild flower,
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand,
And Eternity in an hour.    William Blake

when she touches bow to strings,
And Orla reach my Soul
when she strokes her harp and sings?  2B0B

I know I already posted some Linda Eder videos...

but I recentally came across her Start Search videos from the 1980's....where she was undefeated...

Linda is seriously the most down to earth performer out there....

I know there are members here who like THE MOODY BLUES, also.  They start another US tour next week in San Francisco.  The schedule is on www.moodyblues.co.uk/
This is one of the best groups EVER, and they may be coming to your area.

Yay! The Moody Blues!!! Cool Cool Cool

I sometimes think the Moody Blues' musical sensibilities, particularly on their early albums, invite a few stylistic comparisons with Celtic Woman (or is it the other way around? Wink ) — & the singing voices especially:

I can easily picture Hayley singing Justin Hayward's "The Actor" (from In Search of the Lost Chord), or Lisa singing "Tuesday Afternoon" (from Days of Future Passed). Their vocal styles seem closest to Justin's.

Several Ray Thomas songs seem compatible with most of the girls' styles & carry a certain Celtishness as well (perhaps not a coincidence, as his home town of Stourport-on-Severn is close to the Welsh border...), but I think Chloe & Orlagh — in that order Wink — probably suggest the most similarity.

Orlagh's performances also seem somewhat Mike Pinder-like, with the minor keys, the sense of mystery, & the evocative alto (in comparison to Pinder's baritone). Orlagh comes off as much happier than Pinder's later Moodies work, though.

Looks like James Taylor will be hittin' the road this summer, and coming to Seattle (Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery in Woodinville) doing two shows, July 21st and 22nd.

I dig some of James' stuff, and my Dad's a fan of his music. Dad often plays his CDs in the car and the songs brings good memories of our family road trips and such. I'm sure James will be amazing in person.

Tickets go on sale Monday morning, so consider this Dad's early birthday present.

If you like Andre Rieu, check his website at Andre Rieu.com.  His US tour starts in April in Chicago.  I've only seen him on PBS and think he's very good.  I hope to see his show one of these days.

She actually has a new CD comming out shortly called The Other Side of Me.  There are some clips up on her site....it's good stuff....it's kindof like her CD Gold, that more laid back country pop kindof sound....

Linda is just plain awesome.  Period.  She's just such an amazing person....she doesn't have a stuck up bone in her body...and she's not a diva like so many entertainers.
