Thought we could use a thread where members can swap recommendations and reviews of other artists we've discovered, old and new. Of course, CW is our #1 ( Grin) but there are other talented folks out there.

I just recently came across a young Irish singer named Luan Parle (http://www.luanparle.ie/) and she's terrific. Not "traditional" Irish at all, she's more of a light rock sound. I told her she reminded me of a young Stevie Nicks, and she seemed to get a kick out of the comparison. Anyway - I just bought her CD, "Free," and I'm really enjoying it.

I need to buy that cd asap....anything even remotely related to Stevie Nicks is ok by me!!!  (spins around and sings about Luan Parle).

I would recommend Clannad to everyone.  Their music is wonderful  Bono of U2 said that when you listen to Clannad sing Harry's Song, it is like listening to the angels themselves.  It is really spine tingling.  They are a family and have been singing together for about thirty years.

I also like Altan, Capercaille, Dougie McLean, Anuna.  For a little taste of everything, I listen to Radio Celt/Accurado on the net and they play many different Celtic artists.

The artists don't need to be Irish correct?....I'm assuming no....but anywho....

a really amazing artist to look into is Linda Eder...she's one of the most down-to-earth performers out there.  She has like...this range that never ends.....and to prove it to you....

here's Linda's version of Man of LaMancha

aaannnd...for fun...Bring on the Men...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eISOvEDBAQ8

these are older clips....her voice now is like....twenty times more amazing....

(and on a side note....Linda is Austrian...and Norwegian...her father's from Austria and her mother's from Norway...which makes her awsome....).....

She definitely sounds like a young Stevie. Let's find a Lindsey to go with her!

That's a dangerous combination.  Terrific musically, but dangerous otherwise.   Wink

By the way - getting back to Luan - the last track on her CD is a song called "Ghost", which she co-wrote.  It's really beautiful and haunting.  And yes, she writes a lot of her own music, for you purists out there.   Cheesy

Oh, one more thing. Wickie? Luan is from County Wicklow.  Wink

iLoveLiSaKelly,
You need to check out Eithne Ni Bhraonain's siblings and uncles:
Maire Ni Bhraonain
Pol O Braonain
Ciraran o Braonain (my personal favorite  Wink  )
Noel Duggan
Padraig Duggan

and Eithne use to sing with them too, many moons ago.
