The British Isles may become all I have left.

« on: March 21, 2014, 04:46PM »

Herein proposed is a breakdown of the roster between Founding, Ambassadorial, and Standing Representatives of the Celtic Woman.
To wit:

Alex Sharpe
Standing.
Chloë Agnew
Founding, Ambassadorial.
Deirdre Shannon
Standing.
Hayley Westenra
Ambassadorial.
Lisa Kelly
Founding, Ambassadorial.
Lisa Lambe
Standing.
Lynn Hilary
Standing.
Mairéad Carlin
Standing.
Máiréad Nesbitt
Founding, Standing.
Méav Ní Mhaolchatha
Founding, Ambassadorial.
Órlagh Fallon
Founding, Ambassadorial.
Susan McFadden
Standing.
And in a nod to the Music Director who brought the Representatives together:
David Downes
Founding, Standing.

Definitions are these:
A Founding Representative was a Representative on the very First Journey.
An Ambassadorial Representative is one who has left the main team; she may (as with Hayley) or may not (as with Chloë, Lisa Kelly, Méav, and Órlagh) have joined in a later Journey. Such Representatives are called Ambassadorial because they are always welcome to return as guests of the main team, the way Méav has done at least once.
A Standing Representative, quite obviously, is a current Representative.

Others are welcome to offer their own opinions on this breakdown.

I'm confused, wouldn't Alex and Deirdre be 'ambassadorial' and not 'standing'?

If Alex Sharpe and Deirdre Shannon have left the main team, then they are indeed Ambassadorial Representatives, as welcome to participate as guests of the main team as any Ambassadorial Representative always is and will always remain.

That raises one question: Have they left the main team?

I'm just confused as to what that means. I thought leaving the main team was leaving Celtic Woman - which they have both indeed done.

As for Órlagh Fallon being a Founding Representative, I had not believed that much to be accurate at the time I drafted the breakdown because, to the best of the knowledge I had had available to me at the time, she did not participate in the First Journey.

The First Journey is defined here as having begun in March of 2005, and as having been conducted in 2005 and 2006. This “Journey,” as they all may be called, was, in other words, the “original” performance. Chloë Agnew, Lisa Kelly, and Méav Ní Mhaolchatha did, as did Máiréad Nesbitt and David Downes, and Máiréad is thus a Founding Representative, as are Chloë, Lisa K, and Méav. Though he is obviously not female, Grin David Downes has been accorded Founding status as he is, after all, the “Founding Father” of the team, as my nickname for him observes.

As per the corrections of the knowledge I had had, Órla is indeed a Founding Representative as well as an Ambassadorial one.
 Shocked  Embarrassed
The breakdown has been revised to reflect these corrections.

And yes, leaving the main team is leaving Celtic Woman.

So Alex and Deirdre are now Ambassadorial Representatives.

Ms. Fallon was part of the first concert at The Helix and toured for several years.

That raises the question of why Órla was not seen in the video production of the First Journey.
Unless she was, and Brennus Productions failed to include her involvement in it.
She is an Ambassadorial Representative now, but if she DID participate in the First Journey from the point of its send-off, then she IS a Founding Representative.

Assistance is hereby requested: Did the “original” performance and tour that launched the First Journey include Órlagh Fallon or did it not? Answers are welcomed.

Orla was indeed involved in the original Helix production, quite clearly too. She also participated in the subsequent tours in 2005 and 2006, and continued her involvement on the "A New Journey" recording and tour, before leaving in 2008 to focus on a solo career. Prior to that, she had been part of Celtic Woman since its inception so she is a 'Founding Representative'.

Question for Parker:

Do you NOT have or have you NOT seen the first Helix DVD?  If you don't have it, you can probably find the show on Youtube.

I have checked the video of the “original” performance and tour that launched the First Journey. Órla was seen in its video production of the First Journey; for failing to realize and/or remember that, I hereby stand corrected.
And yes, Brennus Productions did include her involvement in it.
As I have stated, she is an Ambassadorial Representative now, and since she participated in the First Journey from the point of its send-off, she is indeed a Founding Representative, for which status I failed to give her credit before.
And for that I deeply apologize.

For the assistance I received, confirming that the “original” performance and tour that launched the First Journey did indeed include Órlagh Fallon, I also give much thanx. It is truly appreciated.

I wish to ask other members of this forum which Representatives of the Celtic Woman who had been Standing Representatives have since become Ambassadorial Representatives.
I also wish to ask whether any other Founding Representatives than Mairead Nesbit and David “Founding Father” Downes have remained Standing Representatives from the First Journey.
Any assistance along these lines will be deeply appreciated, and its providers are hereby thanked in advance.
