I took the DVD to the hospital so Dave & I could watch it together.
Of course we didn't have the Bose and the 52" screen, only the laptop,
but we loved it.
When I got home I put it on the big screen with the sound-around, and really enjoyed it.
The ladies looked radiant.....the music, the chorus, the orchestra, the choir, were all brilliant!
It was good to see an garda síochiána choir.
I was so proud of all the Irish talent on display in the singers and musicians.
The dresses were gorgeous, and Mairead looked like a lovely pearl. When I first saw the cover photo weeks ago, I didn't like the colour of her dress, but it worked on the DVD.
I thought Chloe in particular looked wonderful.....she has matured into a stunning young woman.
Favourite bits:
I love the Gregorian Chant at the beginning of "Little Drummer Boy".
When the chorus parted and Orla stepped out, followed by Chloe, I thought to myself "that looks like a Scott Porter touch". As he was the producer, I think he put his personal stamp on this concert, and it showed.
Loved Ray Fean's drumming, and his smile when Lisa sang "then he smiled at me, per-rapapa-pom....."
I loved Orla's simple rendition of "Away in a Manger".....this was always my favourite carol when I was a child. Brought back memories.
The expression in Lisa's eyes when Chloe put her hand on her shoulder in "Let it snow".
I know she's a good actress, and knows every theatrical trick in the book, but Lisa really did look as if she was enjoying every minute.
Rich, your girl did good!
I wish they didn't have to pre-record Mairead's "Let it snow" so she had to lip-synch at the end.
I think I saw Mel and our other members there at the front!
Loved the holly-leaf design of the stage, and the snowfall.
Crazy thought while I watched:
During "Merry Little Christmas" when Lisa sweeps her arm around and sings:
"And so I'm offering this simple phrase, from kids from 1 to 92......."
I imagined an angry old woman shouting out "What have you got against us 93-year-olds then???"
Many congratulations to David Downes, Scott Porter, the Ladies, Chorus, Musicians, Orchestra, everybody who had anything to do with this superb production.
I always read the credits, from my years working in TV Studios, and I was pleased to see they even gave a credit to the "Stage Door Keeper".
