Chloë and Eamonn will be on BBC Northern Ireland at 5:45 PM Irish time (12:45 PM EST) for the best of BBC Children in Need.

If you're outside of the UK, you may not be able to stream it unless:
- You connect through a UK-based proxy server / VPN, or
- You view it from a non-official site:

BBC1: www.watchallchannels.com/bbc-one-html/
BBC2: www.watchallchannels.com/bbc-two/              ... it will probably be on BBC1, but in case part of it gets moved, here's the BBC2 link that will hopefully work

Here's the post from Eamonn:

Umm.

What the heck happened.

I watched pretty much the whole thing and didn't see Chloë.

I literally stepped away for like 2 minutes. You're telling me that in the span of two minutes, they were in the middle of an act, showed Chloë and Eamonn, and moved on to another act by the time I got back...

Yeah, I don't think so.

There's some people that commented on Eamonn's post that it was great. Were they watching a different BBC Two feed or something? I mean I saw basically the same highlight package I saw earlier. No Chloë.  Cry

Well, pretty much the rest of the morning is going to be spent trying to find a recording of this somewhere...

Ok, so the name of the show that was on at 2:00 PM UK time today was called "BBC Children in Need, 2016, The Best Bits."

If I try to view it on the BBC iPlayer, I get advised that I need to be in the UK to watch it, due to rights issues.

So after a painstaking process, I found a working UK proxy server and tried to view it ... woops, now I have to have a TV license to watch the clip.

So the amount of time I've spent trying to watch this thing is beyond ridiculous at this point. I'm going to check once more tomorrow to see if there's a torrent available for this Best In Bits show from today. If I still don't see Chloë, I hope somebody else finds it, because I'm not spending any more time looking.

Well, I figured out what happened.

I was getting the Children in Need Best Bits feed from BBC Two alright.

But apparently, it was the feed from BBC Two England. There's also a BBC Two from Northern Ireland that was also showing Children in Need Best Bits at the same time, only it was a different Children in Need Best Bits than the other BBC Two.

You have GOT to be kidding me!!!!!  Angry

I better just go cool off right now before I rage all over the place. I'll be back at some point.

Here's the video for BBC Children in Need Best Bits Northern Ireland:
http://bbc.in/2g4UR7H

You can view it through a UK proxy server. Best to choose one that masks your IP address.

When you get prompted whether or not you have a TV license, you choose yes, even if you don't have one.

Then you can enjoy the video online.

If you want to download it outside of iPlayer...well, good luck. RealPlayer won't do it. The normal browser tricks of downloading an embedded flash video won't work. KeepVid Pro will probably do it, but only the Pro (not free) version will work. The KeepVid Pro trial won't download the whole video.

There were 3 songs:

Eamonn:
When We Were Young

Chloe + Eamonn:
We've Got Tonight

Chloe:
What a Wonderful World

The music was great and Chloë was her usual spectacular self.

If you watch the whole video, the Children's Choir sings "Lean On Me." It's very good!

If you're a fan of Dr. Who and/or Eddie Redmayne, there's some skits in there you may enjoy.

Here's Chloë and Eamonn performing We've Got Tonight on BBC Northern Ireland for Children in Need this past weekend:

https://www.facebook.com/eamonnmusic/videos/1493998663949648/

Hopefully they post the other two songs as well.

Getting those videos in any sort of quality is proving difficult:
1. I have to connect through a UK proxy. Can be difficult to find one that works well enough to stream a video.
2. I don't have software yet that can extract those videos out of the web pages. I have a potential way if it comes down to it using a combo of tools, but it's multiple steps and not going to be particularly fun.

Still working on it Chlovërs. Hang tight.

If you want to see a replay of the whole BBC Children In Need Best Bits: Nothern Ireland with Chloë, Eamonn, and Pudsey, it's on this weekend!

Here's some important info that I learned when I tried to watch this originally:
  • It's only on BBC Northern Ireland channels. There's separate BBC Two channels for other parts of the UK, but only the Northern Ireland ones will carry this.
  • You can stream it through the BBC site, but you need to pass the connection through a UK proxy.
  • Configuring a proxy is easy. Finding a UK proxy that actually works is hard and can take a LONG time. If you haven't used a proxy before / recently, I'd recommend researching how to do that well in advance and leave at least 3 hours or more to find a working UK proxy with enough speed / capability to let you stream the live feed on the BBC Northern Ireland site. Find multiple working proxies in case one goes down. Lots of proxy servers that say they are UK proxy servers actually aren't (they're in France, Germany, Belgium, etc.). Those won't work because the BBC sites only accept connections that appear to be coming from the UK. So you'll have to test it on the actual BBC Northern Ireland site and try to watch their live feed well before the show actually starts. Glen ended up just renting a UK proxy service to watch it.
  • You'll still get prompted that you need a UK TV license. Just say NO to that so you can proceed (unless you actually have a UK TV license).
  • There are other ways to stream it besides using the BBC site directly, but it requires someone to stream BBC Northern Ireland Two on a site that's not region-locked to the UK. Finding streams for the regular BBC One / Two is fairly easy. Finding a stream for BBC Northern Ireland Two is hard.

I imagine that will seem like a hassle and it is, but unless you live in the UK, it's not meant to be easy.

If you're interested, here's the schedules:

BBC Two Northern Ireland
Saturday, Dec 31, 2016
16:20 GMT (that's 11:20 AM EST)
http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbctwo/programmes/schedules/ni/2016/12/31

Here's the page I think is the right one for BBC Two Northern Ireland live streams (remember, you need to connect through a UK proxy to actually view the videos / live stream):
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/live/bbctwo?area=northern_ireland

If it seems like too much work and you're not interested in the other content (or Eamonn's solo song), Glen made videos for from the original airing for just Chloë's parts.

Chloë performing What a Wonderful World for BBC Children in Need:

Enjoy!
