Does anybody know if Granuaile's Dance is about the Irish pirate queen Grace O'Malley? I'm just wondering because her name in Irish is Granuaile, and it would be a pretty cool background story if it was.

How on earth did you find that link so fast? 
Earlier this year, "The Pirate Queen" was a lavish production on Broadway, by the producers of Riverdance......great cast, fabulous costumes, stunning choreography........

I was sent a preview and was thinking I would love to see it, but after only a few weeks it closed! I was very disappointed.
I think they are hoping to resurrect it, I hope they do.

Yeah, I was asking because I did get to see The Pirate Queen while it was test running on Broadway in Chicago and I just kept humming Granuaile's Dance to myself through out the entire show......  And I guess in my opinion, while certain parts of the show were good, it just didn't mesh well together (if that makes any sense at all.....), and just wouldn't have done well in a regular broadway run. Stephanie J. Block was good, but her preformance couldn't hold a candle compared to her run at Elphaba in Wicked (which, by the way, was AMAZING). Now if one of the CW ladies was playing the part, it would have made it to New York for sure! |
