Does anybody know if Granuaile's Dance is about the Irish pirate queen Grace O'Malley? I'm just wondering because her name in Irish is Granuaile, and it would be a pretty cool background story if it was.

How on earth did you find that link so fast?
Earlier this year, "The Pirate Queen" was a lavish production on Broadway, by the producers of Riverdance......great cast, fabulous costumes, stunning choreography........
check out the website, and the "photos" - http://thepiratequeen.com/index.php
I was sent a preview and was thinking I would love to see it, but after only a few weeks it closed! I was very disappointed.
I think they are hoping to resurrect it, I hope they do.
When you read these reviews, you wonder why on earth it folded:The New York Times “A SWAGGERING TALE OF LOVE & RIVALRY with frolicsome jigs and full-hearted anthems to the Irish soul."New York Post "TERRIFIC DANCING! Stephanie J. Block gives a grand rambunctious performance of which even Errol Flynn might have been proud. Hadley Fraser is a delight. Linda Balgord steals scenes nicely as an Elizabeth with Bette Davis' joyous malice." Daily News “A LAVISH SHOW WITH JOYFUL DANCING AND A TALENTED CAST."The Bergen Record “The greatest celebration of girl power since Wicked!"The Toronto Star "THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MUSICAL I'VE EVER SEEN... The galvanic Stephanie J. Block sings with passion, acts with commitment and radiates an innate warmth. Linda Balgord is a magnificently assured Queen Elizabeth, Hadley Fraser the most charismatic of leading men, Marcus Chait and William Youmans a dastardly pair of villains and Jeff McCarthy is richly empathetic." WCBS “A spectacular show."ABC “The Pirate Queen is a spectacular new musical adventure on Broadway."

[ Yes I know......but it was only THREE MINUTES between posts! And I'm very impressed that you remembered it existed..... I have quick fingers! hehe And the fact that your posts are in green helps. I tend to remember things when they stand out.

Yeah, I was asking because I did get to see The Pirate Queen while it was test running on Broadway in Chicago and I just kept humming Granuaile's Dance to myself through out the entire show...... And I guess in my opinion, while certain parts of the show were good, it just didn't mesh well together (if that makes any sense at all.....), and just wouldn't have done well in a regular broadway run. Stephanie J. Block was good, but her preformance couldn't hold a candle compared to her run at Elphaba in Wicked (which, by the way, was AMAZING). Now if one of the CW ladies was playing the part, it would have made it to New York for sure!
