Love the pipes!

I was curious as to just what instrument David played while he was with Riverdance before he became the musical director for the show. I know he plays several including whistle, Uillean pipes, keyboards, piano, but I don't recall any specific instrument that he has mentioned in interviews, liner notes or the Musicbook credits. Does anyone have any insights or am I as blind as a bat and missing the obvious?
