A while back I ordered the CD of Irish lullabies entitled "Codail A Mhuirnín". Méav sings a number of the tracks on this CD -- which is why I ordered it, after all.
The lyric booklet that comes with the CD says that Méav sings tracks 1, 4, 6, 11, 15, 19 (forgive me if I avoid the Irish titles, as they are quite long!)
On her web site, Méav claims all of these tracks,
as well as track 18 ("Adhraim mo leanbh beag tagtha'r an saol"). However, the lyric booklet attributes this performance to a different singer: Máire Breatnach.
Having listened to the CD, I have to admit that track 18 sounds more like Máire singing than Méav.
(As an aside, no one is credited with track 17 on the lyric booklet, but I don't think it is Méav, either.)
Does anyone know what is happening here? Was Méav just mistaken about which tracks she was singing on? Or were there different versions of the song on different pressings of the CD? (By comparison, I have different versions of Secret Garden performing their song "You Raise Me Up": one with Brian Kennedy which appeared on SG's "Once In A Red Moon" album, and one with the late Jan Werner which was not released.) Or was Méav playing an instrument on that track, rather than singing? Or... what?
If anyone has any information (or even plausible theories!) about this conundrum, I'd like to hear from you.
