THE two remaining nieces of War of Independence hero Michael Collins have died in Dublin -- within 11 days of each other.

Nancy Hurley (nee Collins) died three weeks ago on March 7, at the age of 81, and her sister Joan Bunworth (nee Collins) who was 91, died on March 18, and was buried in Dublin yesterday.

The women were the daughters of Sean Collins -- eldest brother of the revolutionary hero, who was killed in 1922 when caught in an ambush by anti-Treaty irregular forces at Beal na mBlath in west Cork, during the Civil War.
