I'm finishing up a research project over the Cultural and Intellectual developments of the Decolonization of Europe. It's oh-so-much-fun.

Good morning to you too....at 9:16pm

I smiled when I read your subject......who was decolonizing whom?

Britain, France, Belgium, Holland, Spain.....to name but a few.....were busy colonizing everywhere they landed!
And don't let's start on Germany......

Then they have the brass nerve to criticize the USA!!! Roll Eyes

(I can say that because I am Irish!)  Cheesy  Wink

I probably didn't word it quite correctly. It was the decolonization done by Europe after World Wars I and II. (In places like India and Africa).

They didn't have a whole lot of choice!
The people of those countries got tired of being treated like you-know-what.
Britain in particular used her Colonies to provide Military support during WWI and WWII.
They promised the Irish their independence if they fought in WWI (yeah, right.....like they had a choice!)
Don't know if you have heard of the Gurkhas of Nepal.
They became part of the British Army and, even though small in stature, had a reputation for being fierce, fearless fighters. They won many VCs and decorations, proving themselves in many battles, but their Officers were always British.
They were not treated very well, and the Brits were surprised when many of them chose to switch to the Indian Army after independence.

There are two groups of soldiers you do not want to cross and you want on your side. Gurkhas and the ROKS. I served with the ROKS in Nam

I'm not a bad guy, and I really don't want to see any ROKS.  They look frightening.

Whatever women do they must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good. Luckily, this is not difficult.
