I have a stinky program which sometimes allows me to get pictures off DVDs, but they're not very high quality.  Tongue

I can see that some of you are using snapshots from the DVDs, so I was wondering what software you used because I would like to make some banners, etc. with pictures from the DVDs.  Grin

I know there are many different programs for doing this, but does anyone want to tell me what you use?

Thanks!  Wink

Some video software allows you to grab an image "on the fly" so to speak - as the video is being played.  My preference is to pause the video at the image I like, and step forward or back to get it just right, be sure the screen is maximized, and then do a screen grab.  ( fn - prt scr ) on a PC.
This places the image on the desktop.  Then open your favorite photo editing software and paste it in as a new image.  It's a few more steps than having the screen grab function within the playback software, but it works and you can get a pretty quick routine going.
I've posted lots of screen grabs on my Tribute page at:  http://www.timerson.net/CW  Have a look and download anything you like.  There are other pages linked to from this main homepage.

Hey Guardian, the VLC media player http://www.videolan.org/ works great for making screen caps.

I tried the VLC player, and it worked great!

I got a snapshot for a banner and you can see what I did here:

While I was trying to find the right picture for a banner, I got a few more Mairead shots than I needed:

I hope you enjoy these! Kevin, can you see these?

Thanks! LOL! I like that one too. Her expression is priceless. Maybe I'll make some more banners sometime when I get back from the trip I'm about to take, and then I can use that picture!

But if there's something you want to do with any of these, go ahead and do it! I won't hog these images to myself.

Thanks! Can't wait to see what you've done when I get back.

Btw, do you know if Kevin has seen these? I kind of posted them with him in mind. Wink

If he has seen them he's probably passed out on the floor which is probably why he hasn't commented on them yet!  Grin

Ha! Ha! LOL

Do you think I should start a new thread called "Pictures of Mairead for Kevin"?  Grin

Then anyone could put up their pictures.

Maybe when I get back from my trip, I'll create the "Images for Kevin and Other Enthusiastic Mairead Fanatics!" thread. LOL
