Well not all the time but yesterday afternoon. Out of the middle of nowhere we had straight line winds decide to try and blow my apartment building down. Thankfully no one was hurt but I'm not sure when I'm gonna get back into the apartment (I just moved in last week!). We had no idea there was any damage to our building until the firefighters came knocking on our door and told us we had to leave the building because part of the roof was gone. After grabbing clothes and personal hygiene products I remembered to grab my concert tickets and other stuff for the concerts (people were shaking their heads and laughing when I told them that!). Here's some pictures of damage it did in the area, pics # 16, 17, and 18 are of our building. The roof fell into the apartment next to ours: http://www.kctv5.com/slideshow/weather/19843089/detail.htmlHere's a clip of the building and some of my lovely neighbors: http://www.kctv5.com/video/19843137/index.html

At least you had the presence of mind to get the tickets.

Funny how others that aren't on here don't see things the same way!
Everyone got out without injury. I believe the person whos' apartment got wrecked was at work at the time. I guess the good thing was is the other one on our floor was empty so they moved her stuff right over into it.
The good thing is that they are re-roofing the building today so we should be all set, only problem is that storms could pop up at anytime cause it's June in Missouri.

Glad to hear that you're safe, and that in the face of grave danger, your priorities are still in check.

Happy to say that we got to come back today. They were working on the roof all day and have tarps and stuff down so I'm gonna assume they will be back tomorrow, which means I probably won't be getting any sleep!

get ear plugs. Do you see tarps when you look at the ceiling? If so, go to a motel.
BTW it is 104 and clear in Phoenix.

no there aren't any tarps in our apartment. The only thing it did to ours was a little of the overhang got twisted towards the part of the roof that went down into the apartment next to us.

Sara,
I am glad to hear that everything turned out okay!
All kidding aside, it's amazing the things that go through your head when you are faced with an emergency and have to make split-second decisions. For example, what to save and what has to be left behind.
