.....you will encounter a variety of roads.

The roads from the Airport into Dublin, and the main roads to each region of Ireland, are wide and have quite good signs.
(I posted other road signs on another thread).
Then as you get further into the country, the roads will be narrower.
Some of them will be VERY narrow, and have lots of sharp bends.
Most of these roads were not made for vehicular traffic, but for horses and pedestrians.
The Irish do a lot of walking and cycling, and the country roads are fine for that.
You will sometimes be amazed when driving along a narrow twisting road, to see a sign like this:
(100km = 62 mph)

I got that picture from this blog describing a trip to Ireland:

Another thing to watch out for....with the "soft" climate (lots of rain) the trees, hedgerows and vegetation quickly grows lush and green.....so it can obscure your view of oncoming traffic.
For many weeks in Summer, in the West of Ireland you will see wild fuchsia hedges along many roads.....oh yes, and sheep too:
(Please watch out for farm animals, you don't want to upset the farmer!)
